A Good Day

Hello Mother Nature? How are you? I understand things have been hectic! I have just one itty bitty favor to ask? May I have a six miler with sugar and frosting please? Thank you! We finally got our fluff good ol’ Mother Nature tossed a blanket of snow over the Northeast. I got out of the office this afternoon for an exhilarating run along the Charles River. Today was one of those moments when you forget you’re running, sheer effortless strides, senses taking in the sights and sounds of the birds singing above, water caressing the shores, tall grass whistling in the wind, I forgot how beautiful Boston is on a clear crisp and snowy winter day.

For this weekend I’m trying to make arrangements to run the Cape Cod Fat Ass 50k sponsored by the Cape Cod Ultrarunning Society, of which there seems to be no information on, maybe they only exist as a deep underground phantom society but I have this to go with:

The Cape Cod Ultrarunning Society will be putting on the Frozen Fat Ass 50K race at Sandy Neck on January 27th. Entrance to Sandy Neck is on rte 6. A right at the Sandwich/Barnstable town line. Start is at 7A.M. sharp in parking lot. No fee. Course is two laps of a figure eight 15.7 mile configuration involving marsh trails, sand dunes, and beach on beautiful Cape Cod Bay. Do one loop for 25 K or both for the shell. Nine hour time limit, inscribed commemorative quahog shells to all finishers. Sun, sand, wind, cold salt air, snow, ice, and fun. Are you tough enough? Some food & drinks provided, plus extra foods welcomed. Hope to see some of you there.

I hope so and I’m happy to know Sherpa John will be making the trip down too.

My wife and I are thinking about turning this into a mini winter family vacation on the Cape and may stay at the Gull Wing Suites in South Yarmouth; anything to get out of the house for the weekend, plus the kids love the pool, cable TV (yes we don’t have cable at home, I’m not sure what sounds crazier not having cable or running 100 miles???) and for some reason the kids get a real kick out of having a bathroom, kitchen and beds in the one room, I think we need to get them out more often = )

I updated my blogger header, I had a lot of fun designing this with Microsoft paint along with the new Team Sherpa header, it’s still a work in progress and I will add some more details tonight…stay tuned.

All in all it’s been a good week so far, let’s keep it rolling!
