We're Going on a Trail Run

I’m back!! We had a wonderful time down the Cape, lots of laughs and we’re already looking forward to next year’s trip! After this week I could write a long funny things kids say list!

I’m seriously questioning trail running during the summer months, I don’t think I can tolerate anymore mosquitoes, deer flies, thorns, nettles, and poison ivy! I went for a backyard run along the Blue Heron trailheads, the evening began with some serious bushwhacking, and it sort of went like this:
We’re going on a trail run. We’re going to have some fun. What a beautiful day. We’re not scared. Oh-oh thorns, nettles and poison ivy. We can’t go over it. We can’t go under it. Oh, no! We’ve got to go through it. Stumble prick! Stumble prick! Stumble prick! We’re going on a trail run. We’re going to try and have some fun. What a beautiful day! We’re not scared. Oh-oh swarms of deer flies and mosquitoes. We can’t go over them. We can’t go under them. Oh, no! We’ve got to run with them! Swish Swat! Swish Swat! Swish Swat! Quick back to the car, Swish swat! Stumble prick, get out of the car! Turn on the hose! Scrub myself with a SOS pad, go into the house! Sit down! We’re not going trail running again! Okay I’ll be back bugs or no bugs.

Besides the bugs it was a great run, on the way back I snapped a mental picture, through the birch trees and across a field of wild flowers the sun was projecting its evening colors on the horizon! Making the day complete!

Happy Trails…..
